Made from 100% sheep waste wool, WOOLPACK is bringing businesses into the circular economy. Wool is renewable and compostable and at its end of life breaks down to deliver valuable nutrients into the soil. It’s good for the business and good for the planet too!

Planet Protector has monetised this waste stream to support Australian and New Zealand farmers and champion a truly circular solution. Wool is naturally renewable and compostable and at its end of life, breaking down to deliver valuable nutrients into the soil.

FAQs

Explore our frequently asked questions to better understand our sustainable packaging solutions.

How does Woolpack keep my contents cool and safe?

Wool fibers effectively absorb moisture from the air, reducing humidity and condensation to maintain stable temperatures. Encased in a food-grade film, these fibers can breathe, creating a natural cooling system. When used with ice packs, Woolpack insulation has been proven to keep contents packed at 1°C chilled below 5°C for at least 48 hours. Pharma Protector and Pharma+ packaging have been scientifically proven to maintain pharmaceuticals within the critical 2°C - 8°C range for 24 to over 72 hours. Longer durations can be achieved with customized wool thicknesses and configurations.

How do I recycle?

Recycling is simple with our program. You can return used packaging materials to us, and we will ensure they are processed responsibly. Visit our Recycle With Us page for more details.

How is Woolpack processed?

After obtaining raw wool, it is naturally washed and scoured using only boiling hot water and soap. The wool is then manufactured into insulation material according to required specifications, cut into lengths, and sealed within recyclable or compostable film.

Is Woolpack hygienic?

Yes, the natural washing and scouring process is free from chemical additives, ensuring the wool is sterilized without introducing toxic components. Sealing the liner inside recyclable or compostable film prevents fibers from contacting your products directly. There is no risk of Woolpack imparting a wool smell or tainting your products.

Does Woolpack work for frozen goods?

While Planet Protector has not conducted independent testing for frozen goods, multiple customers have tested and currently use the product for such purposes. As different products freeze differently, it's recommended to conduct your own testing on samples before integrating Woolpack into your frozen supply chain.

Will Woolpack protect my items in transit?

Yes, wool's elasticity and crimp factor provide cushioning and impact resistance, protecting goods during transit.

I am shipping overseas. Will there be an issue with customs, as your product is made from wool?

The wool in Woolpack liners is cleaned of all contaminants with high-pressure hot water and soap and is encased in a food-grade film, so there are no biosecurity issues when shipping products in Woolpack. Generally, you do not need to declare the composition of your packaging, only the contents of what you are shipping. If concerned, it's advisable to contact the destination country's postal regulations directly before sending packages.

Can Woolpack be branded with my own corporate logos and images?

Yes, printing is available for the standard box range, allowing customers to incorporate their own branding. The minimum order quantity for printed boxes is 1,000 units. For smaller clients, using custom stickers on the unprinted portion of the standard box design is an alternative.

Does Woolpack provide customers with promotional materials surrounding their product?

Yes, Planet Protector offers a Woolpack information flyer to educate your customers, explaining what Woolpack is and how to dispose of its components without using landfill.

How does my Woolpack get delivered?

Woolpack cartons are delivered flat-packed. Liners arrive compressed in bundles; it's recommended to open them one hour before packing to allow them to return to their original thickness. Deliveries are primarily sent on pallets, but small bundles can be couriered if preferred.
