Our Wool
Planet Protector uses 100% Australian and New Zealand wool in all products. This wool is a waste product unsuitable for the textile industry and would otherwise be destined for landfill.
Building Insulation
PPG’s building insulation is designed with circularity in mind, sourced from recycled materials and compostable at its end of life. With a variety of R-values available, our insulation allows builders, designers, and installers to select the perfect thermal performance for their projects, ensuring efficiency and comfort. PPG offers a range of sustainable building insulation materials that meet all necessary requirements, whilst both matching, and in some cases outperforming traditional insulation materials. Unlike traditional building materials, our natural fibre-based products are safe for breathing, promoting healthier homes and workspaces. All of our insulation products are easy to handle during installation, free from fibreglass itch, and require no protective gear.
Yes, we are happy to accommodate custom specifications for our insulation products. Our dedicated R&D team works closely with clients to develop tailored insulation solutions, all of which are produced locally at our advanced facility in Altona North. We offer flexibility in terms of sizing, GSM (grams per square meter), thickness, and fibre blends, ensuring that the insulation meets the unique needs of your project. Whether you're looking for specific dimensions or specialised materials, we can provide customised solutions to meet your exact requirements.
Yes, our insulation products can be retrofitted into existing buildings. The process depends on the building type and its structure, but our insulation is designed to be lightweight and easy to install, even in retrofit applications. For specific guidance based on the characteristics of your building, feel free to reach out to our team, and we will provide tailored advice for your retrofit project.
At PPG, sustainability is at the core of everything we do. All our insulation products are made using 100% recycled or repurposed fibers. We first began repurposing waste wool from cross-bred sheep for our sustainable packaging solutions, and as we’ve expanded our product range, we’ve ensured this same circular model is embedded into our building insulation. In addition to wool, we redirect denim waste from landfills, working to close the loop, whilst our polyester insulation is sourced from recycled PET bottles. Through our commitment to recycling and reusing materials, PPG is closing the loop, reducing waste, and proving that sustainability and high performance can go hand in hand.
Yes, all of our insulation products meet local building codes and standards for their intended applications. If you have specific requirements or questions regarding building codes or standards for your project, we encourage you to review and reach out to the NCC and Building Codes.
Our insulation products are non-toxic and safe to handle, offering peace of mind during installation and use. They are environmentally responsible and designed to enhance comfort and breathability in any space, all year round. Unlike traditional insulation, our products do not contain any harmful chemicals or irritating materials, and they are completely free of fiberglass, eliminating the risk of itchiness and respiratory irritation. Our wool-based insulation is naturally hypoallergenic, making it ideal for health-sensitive environments such as homes, schools, hospitals, and offices.

Packaging
Wool fibers effectively absorb moisture from the air, reducing humidity and condensation to maintain stable temperatures. Encased in a food-grade film, these fibers can breathe, creating a natural cooling system. When used with ice packs, Woolpack insulation has been proven to keep contents packed at 1°C chilled below 5°C for at least 48 hours. Pharma Protector and Pharma+ packaging have been scientifically proven to maintain pharmaceuticals within the critical 2°C - 8°C range for 24 to over 72 hours. Longer durations can be achieved with customized wool thicknesses and configurations.
Recycling is simple with our program. You can return used packaging materials to us, and we will ensure they are processed responsibly. Visit our Recycle With Us page for more details.
After obtaining raw wool, it is naturally washed and scoured using only boiling hot water and soap. The wool is then manufactured into insulation material according to required specifications, cut into lengths, and sealed within recyclable or compostable film.
Yes, the natural washing and scouring process is free from chemical additives, ensuring the wool is sterilized without introducing toxic components. Sealing the liner inside recyclable or compostable film prevents fibers from contacting your products directly. There is no risk of Woolpack imparting a wool smell or tainting your products.
While Planet Protector has not conducted independent testing for frozen goods, multiple customers have tested and currently use the product for such purposes. As different products freeze differently, it's recommended to conduct your own testing on samples before integrating Woolpack into your frozen supply chain.
Yes, wool's elasticity and crimp factor provide cushioning and impact resistance, protecting goods during transit.
The wool in Woolpack liners is cleaned of all contaminants with high-pressure hot water and soap and is encased in a food-grade film, so there are no biosecurity issues when shipping products in Woolpack. Generally, you do not need to declare the composition of your packaging, only the contents of what you are shipping. If concerned, it's advisable to contact the destination country's postal regulations directly before sending packages.
Yes, printing is available for the standard box range, allowing customers to incorporate their own branding. The minimum order quantity for printed boxes is 1,000 units. For smaller clients, using custom stickers on the unprinted portion of the standard box design is an alternative.
Yes, Planet Protector offers a Woolpack information flyer to educate your customers, explaining what Woolpack is and how to dispose of its components without using landfill.
Woolpack cartons are delivered flat-packed. Liners arrive compressed in bundles; it's recommended to open them one hour before packing to allow them to return to their original thickness. Deliveries are primarily sent on pallets, but small bundles can be couriered if preferred.
